I recently updated my December Math Mats and made completely new center games and activities for them. I wanted to show you all the goodies that are now included. If you already own them you get the updates for free! Don’t yet have them but want an inside look?
Time for a sneak peak at what is included and a freebie is included below!
December Addition Practice
This set includes 2 different center activities that focus on addition. In the top portion students will add the Christmas ornaments together and write the work on the response sheet included. The other addition center uses dice! My kids love to use dice so I try and incorporate it in different ways. This works great for your all students. You can differentiate for your higher level students by have them use 3 dice!
December Comparing Numbers
Students will pick a cookie card and a milk card and compare the numbers on the mat! You can laminate the mat or put it in a clear plastic sleeve. It come with a response sheet as well for students to track their work.
December Number Bonds
This was part of the original set and it is a hit with my kids so I kept it as is! Again students will use dice to create a number bond!
December Number Practice Centers
The next December Math Centers that were updated are some basic practice with numbers skills. The first one has students writing the next set of 3 numbers. This is great practice for counting on from any given number! The other one has students picking a number card and using the response sheet to determine what one more would be and what one less is.
December Subtraction Practice Centers
Students can use the next two centers to practice their subtraction skills. The first students get to use dice again! Yay!!! Subtract It center has students subtracting a given number of objects from the number 10. Each of these centers comes with response sheets!
December Ten Frames
December ten frames is another favorite, they love to see what new erasers or counters I have found to use. Students will pick two number cards included in the set and use counters to show the addition sentence. You can even differentiate by having students just pick a card and show it on a ten frame. You can make it a partner game by having one student pick the card and two other students race to show the answer on the ten frame first.
December Teen Number Practice Activity
In this center students will use the teen number activity mat to show 3 different ways to represent a teen number. Typically I still have a few each year that struggle with their teen numbers. This is a great hands on activity that will keep them counting! The three ways are tally marks, ten frames and dice.
These are the updates to the December Math Centers and I am working on January’s set right now. It is my goal to ensure you have enough differentiated practice activities to last the entire month. If there is a specific skill you would like to see included, please feel free to comment on this post or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I hope you enjoy the set!
